cloud of uncertainty surrounded the Pro Stock
pits when the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Series season
kicked off at Pomona in February. After making the
mandatory switch from carburetors to electronic fuel
injection (EFI) over the offseason, the slate was wiped clean.
Would one team find dominance in the new era, or would it be a
free-for-all as everyone worked to find a grasp on the new rules
package? Now five races into the season, it’s fair to say the threecar team of KB Racing has found domination.
Collectively, KB Racing drivers Greg Anderson, Jason Line
and Bo Butner have left almost nothing on the table this season.
They’ve held the top three qualifying positions at the first five
races, each taking a turn as the number one qualifier at least
once. Gainesville was the only race where all three weren’t in the
semifinals, and Phoenix was the only race where two of the KB
teams didn’t face each other in the final round. The two Summit
Racing Equipment-sponsored drivers also faced off against each
