MOVERS & SHAKERS STEADY TUNIN’ Greg Davitz tweaks the Holley EFI system between rounds at Huntsville’s Radial Fest on Johnny Inman’s Illinois-based, nitrousburning X275 Ford Mustang. Crack ‘Em NHRA icon John Force took over the historic No. 9 Fishermen’s Grotto crab stand in late July while preparing for the NHRA Sonoma Nationals in California. The 16-time champion joined restaurant owner Gus Geraldi behind the famous crab stand to crack crabs and visit with locals. Fishermen’s Grotto opened in 1935 as the first sit-down restaurant on San Francisco’s world famous Fisherman’s Wharf. FILLING IN Three-time NHRA Top Fuel world champion Larry Dixon was less than 24-hours removed from sustaining one of the most violent crashes in NHRA history, but he was more than glad to wheel Darrell Gwynn’s restored Coors Extra Gold dragster during the prerace track walk at last year’s Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals. DYNAMITE DAN Dan Ferguson, 2014 PDRA Top Sportsman champ and one of the series’ fastestrising stars, smiles for the camera in the staging lanes at Martin, Michigan’s US 131 Motorsports Park. GUN SHOW Longtime Drag Illustrated writers Dr. Ron Berges, Van Abernethy and Eddie Buck, father of DI Editor-in-Chief Wes, goof around in front of the cameras at Wilkesboro Dragway’s Woodstock of Pro Stock. Dr. Berges traveled cross-country with his friend/crew chief Buck with his vintage Pro Stock Ford Mustang II to compete in the epic Nostalgia Pro Stock shootout. 50 | D r a g I l l u s t r a t e d | DragIllustrated.com Issue 113
