The notoriously quick Pacific Raceways quarter-mile has been the setting for some of
Chris Demke’s wildest rides and most unique races, and this year’s Protect the Harvest
NHRA Northwest Nationals was no exception. The 2014 NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster
world champion recorded a season-best elapsed time of 5.221 at 273.66 mph after his
Peen Rite blown alcohol dragster set down the front wheels. Demke qualified third and
improved to a 5.219 in the first round of eliminations, eventually moving on to the raindelayed final round contested at the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota.
