Ekanoo Juggernaut Destroys the Record Books … Again!

Knocked from the pinnacle of six-cylinder performance late in 2016 by Jesus Melendez in the cockpit of the Puerto Rico-based Zoian / New Generation Toyota Camry, Ebrahim Kanoo’ s Bahrain-based fleet embarked on a three-week odyssey which resulted in annihilation of records and a slew of event titles as the 2016- 2017 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship series opened at the team’ s home track in Sakhir. As expected, the action began with a concerted effort to reclaim the Six-Cylinder records of which only the outright quarter-mile speed mark, 252.29 mph, still belonged to the Bahrain team. The Zoian Camry owned both the eighth-mile and quarter-mile elapsed time standards,( 3.810 and 5.757 seconds), as well as a 202.27 mph eighth-mile speed clocked during their appearance at the 2nd annual Sport Compact Finals at Orlando( FL) Speed World Dragway.

Once the season opened at Bahrain International Circuit, the EKanoo gang took advantage of testing days, qualifying sessions and eliminations afforded at each of the five events. With Shane Tecklenburg again tuning the 2015 Toyota GT86 powered by a 195 cubic inch inline Toyota powerplant with a single 106 mm turbocharger, Alabama veteran Gary White took the wheel and stole back the eighth-mile speed for the breed with a 3.88 at a whopping 203.90 and improved on his own quarter-mile speed best at 253.41 mph on a 5.83.

They didn’ t stop there. Two days later, White pushed the sport’ s strongest Single Turbo vehicle to an amazing 5.753 at only 249.86 mph to eclipse the Zoian Toyota’ s World Record while retaking the eighth-mile

ET mark at 3.799,( 201.03 mph). Interestingly, the vast majority of the GT86’ s elapsed time improvement came in the first sixty feet,( 0.981 to 0.947 seconds).

It’ s important to remember, however, the EKanoo operation includes no less than four different racecars each capable of setting records in a variety of drag racing disciplines. Each began a month-long rampage of amazing performances with the braintrust of Tecklenburg, Tim Davis, Josh Ledford, Khalid Mohamed, Jamie Miller, and Vidumal NChamari making the decisions.

The flagship of the squad is a 2016 Lexus RC F weighing 2500 pounds with a Pro- Line-built 521 cubic inch Chrysler Hemi utilizing the unique induction system of twin Gen2 94 mm turbochargers to fit Middle Eastern rules which loosely follow a combination of NHRA Pro Modified and PDRA Pro Boost Eliminators while allowing Nitrous Oxide-injected cars to compete, as well. The first passes on the new rig resulted in a 3.75 / 214.99 eighth-mile coupled to a stunning 5.54 at 272.27 mph to make driver Khalid Mohammed the third-quickest and fourth-fastest passenger car pilot on earth.

Since Middle Eastern Pro Modified competition is contested on the eighth-mile, Tecklenburg and team concentrated on getting the RC F competitive with the supercharged and nitrous-injected machines which appear for each eight-car qualified show. Soon, Mohammed hit a 3.74 / 215.72 and followed it with a 3.72 at 212.62 but with a brutal 0.950 sixty-feet ET which ranks among the best in turbocharged history.

When the EKanoo team was able to continue quarter-mile testing, Mohammed unleashed a run of 5.519 at a staggering 274.70 mph to
