MOVERS & SHAKERS

FINALLY Californian Pro Mod hitter Mike Maggio has attended all but one of Roth’ s Street Car Super Nationals races at Las Vegas, but he broke through to win Outlaw Pro Mod for the first time at the 2016 running of the event.
TRAVELING MAN
Nitrous tuning wizard Charles Carpenter was on hand at SCSN to make the calls on Larry Drake’ s 1966 Nova, which was competing in Precision Turbo Pro Mod despite having drag radials mounted on the rear wheels. Carpenter tuned
Drake’ s driver, Richie Morris, to a careerbest 7.93 at 179 MPH.

Ride-Along

Pro Stock legend Harold Denton,( right) drove one of Roy Hill’ s brand-new Mustangs during an exhibition pass at the inaugural Don Carlton Memorial and Nostalgia Pro Stock Shootout, held at North Carolina’ s Wilkesboro Dragway. Riding shotgun with Denton on this memorable pass is Nostalgia Pro Stock historian and fan, Mike Abernethy, who also happens to be the big brother of long-time DI staffer, Van Abernethy.
TURBO ELITE
Record-breaking PDRA Pro Boost driver Carl Stevens Jr. and turbocharged supertuner Steve Petty discuss the track conditions before the final qualifying session at the PDRA
World Finals in Virginia.
FAN FRIENDLY Two-time NHRA Pro Mod champion Troy Coughlin is clearly a fan of black and yellow race cars, so he was more than glad to sign a poster for a local Junior Dragster racer.
