MOVERS & SHAKERS
Family Portrait
Scott and Angela Macy enjoy a day of drag racing with their four-legged children, Kacy Lu( left) and Oz. While Scott is an accomplished bracket racing journeyman, the winningest racer of this family might just be Oz, who once resided in Florida and was a professional race dog before retiring to the Macy’ s couch! Scott and Angela have been known to foster retired racing Greyhounds and occasionally provide them with a forever home. They’ re also active in acquiring rescue dogs, which is how Kacy Lu was adopted into the Macy family.
ON DECK Kolton Decker had an impressive outing at I-64 Motorplex in late October, scoring his richest weekend of winnings to date. Decker, who’ s only been racing for a couple months, entered the beginner’ s class and picked up the win on Thursday, then doubled up to win Friday’ s event as well. When not chasing big money purses, Kolton enjoys racing at his local Thornhill Dragway in Morning View, KY.
OUT WEST East coast Pro Mod team owner and crew chief Camp Stanley regularly makes the haul out to Las Vegas to compete at SCSN with his son, John, and their blown Cadillac CTS-V. The Stanley & Weiss entry was quicker in the Outlaw Pro Mod final, but John’ s red light handed the win to Mike Maggio.
MEL X2 Race promotor Mel Roth, pictured here with the husbandand-wife Pro Modified team of driver Melanie Salemi and tuner Jon Salemi, takes a hands-on approach to his races.
BREAK TIME A pause in the action allows for a quick conversation between Mel Roth, team owner and Outlaw Pro Mod driver Jay Dietrich, and his tuner, Paul Taylor. On top of driving his own blue Camaro, Dietrich also fielded a black Camaro with Frankie Taylor driving, though the motor from Taylor’ s entry was swapped in to replace Dietrich’ s expired bullet for eliminations.
