OSCR IV
bring $10,000 to the line for X275 Drag Radial
at the second race of the inaugural world cham-
pionship series for the class. Rich Bruder came
out in dominating fashion, setting the elapsed-
time national record during qualifying with
an astounding 4.364-second shot with a new
Roots-supercharged combination in the familiar
Mustang. Jamie Stanton, Rob Goss, Dean Mari-
nis and Jimmy White, Jr. also packed in quick
elapsed times to sit in the top five going into race
day. Seventh qualifier Clint Downs used holeshot
victories over Jamie Stanton and Kenny Hubbard
before lining up with New York’s Dean Marinis
in the final round. Both drivers left the starting
line with nearly identical .03-second reaction
times, but charged ahead with a 4.42 at 160 to de-
feat Marinis’ nitrous-
assisted Mustang.
In the Ultra Street
final round, number-
one qualifier Shawn
Pevlor recorded low et
of the event, 4.721, on
his competition bye
run after Joel Great-
house couldn’t make
the call. The MX235
event title went to Tim
Hendricks, who de-
feated Vincent Franks’
4.79 with his weekend-best 4.74 in the final round.
New to the OSCR scene was Pro Street Mo-
torcycle, featuring 24 motorcycles competing
on the quarter mile. North Carolina’s Rodney
Williford dominated the weekend, running an
unofficial-class-record-6.68 at 222.21 mph in
testing and qualifying number one with a 6.827.
Another 6.82 at 217 in the final round allowed
Williford to wrap up his OSCR debut with a win
over Gabe Frederick’s 6.94.
OSCR IV also included sportsman racing in
the form of the 6.00 and 7.00 Index classes. Joey
Nugent earned the $5,000 FAST 6.00 Index main
event and Brian Hackett won the Ultimate Con-
verter Concepts Thursday Throwdown bonus race.
In Strange Engineering 7.00 Index, David Smith
doubled up to win both the Thursday Throwdown
and the main event, collecting a total of $9,000
in the process.
