Dirt OSCR IV bring $10,000 to the line for X275 Drag Radial at the second race of the inaugural world cham- pionship series for the class. Rich Bruder came out in dominating fashion, setting the elapsed- time national record during qualifying with an astounding 4.364-second shot with a new Roots-supercharged combination in the familiar Mustang. Jamie Stanton, Rob Goss, Dean Mari- nis and Jimmy White, Jr. also packed in quick elapsed times to sit in the top five going into race day. Seventh qualifier Clint Downs used holeshot victories over Jamie Stanton and Kenny Hubbard before lining up with New York’s Dean Marinis in the final round. Both drivers left the starting line with nearly identical .03-second reaction times, but charged ahead with a 4.42 at 160 to de- feat Marinis’ nitrous- assisted Mustang. In the Ultra Street final round, number- one qualifier Shawn Pevlor recorded low et of the event, 4.721, on his competition bye run after Joel Great- house couldn’t make the call. The MX235 event title went to Tim Hendricks, who de- feated Vincent Franks’ 4.79 with his weekend-best 4.74 in the final round. New to the OSCR scene was Pro Street Mo- torcycle, featuring 24 motorcycles competing on the quarter mile. North Carolina’s Rodney Williford dominated the weekend, running an unofficial-class-record-6.68 at 222.21 mph in testing and qualifying number one with a 6.827. Another 6.82 at 217 in the final round allowed Williford to wrap up his OSCR debut with a win over Gabe Frederick’s 6.94. OSCR IV also included sportsman racing in the form of the 6.00 and 7.00 Index classes. Joey Nugent earned the $5,000 FAST 6.00 Index main event and Brian Hackett won the Ultimate Con- verter Concepts Thursday Throwdown bonus race. In Strange Engineering 7.00 Index, David Smith doubled up to win both the Thursday Throwdown and the main event, collecting a total of $9,000 in the process.
