Superstar
Street Outlaws cast mem-
ber “Daddy Dave” Comstock
brought his infamous “Goliath
2.0” 1963 Nova down to Valdosta
from Oklahoma City to compete
with Outlaw Drag Radial’s tough-
est racers. Despite having less
than a dozen passes on the 315-se-
ries drag radials before qualifying
began, Comstock rocketed to the
top of the ODR qualifying order
with a 4.21. The top spot also gave
him a first-round bye run, which
he used to record a low-of-the-
round 4.23. After redlighting away
a 4.24 in the second round, Com-
stock headed back to the 405 to
convert the Procharger-equipped
Nova back into street mode to
begin filming the ninth season of
Street Outlaws less than a week
later. - NATE VAN WAGNEN
Dominic Augustine had
qualified well at Lights Out a
number of different times, but
could never complete a dream
weekend at South Georgia Mo-
torsports Park. That all changed
at Lights Out 8 when Augustine
claimed the Outlaw 632 victory,
running a 4.403 at 156 mph to
knock off Kenny Hubbard in the
final round.
“It meant the world to me,”
Augustine said. “There’s some fast
cars there and some good cars
got knocked out while we made
it through. Everything aligned
just right. I’m really proud to be
where we are.”
Augustine and his son, Noah,
have put in a significant amount
of work over the years, and it
appears to be paying off in a class
growing by leaps and bounds.
Augustine, who is building a new

630 cubic-inch motor, also cred-
ited help from tuner Ziff Hudson
and Barry Mitchell en route to the
victory, remaining thankful for
being a top contender in a class
growing at an impressive rate.

“I’m just thrilled and happy to
be in a class that’s affordable,” Au-
gustine said. “For a decent amount
of money you can run well and
make something work, and it’s
still a very competitive class. Any-
body can win a race in this class.
The stars just aligned right for us
(at Lights Out 8). We’re around
good people and that’s why we run
as well as we do.” - JOSH HACHAT
