TERBOX PRESENTED BY 800-222-9092 www.MickeyThompsonTires.com SMOKED OUT When NHRA officials surprisingly announced the Pro Stock Battle of the Burnouts in the days leading up to the 63rd running of the U.S. Nationals, Deric Kramer clearly saw an opportunity. The 32-year-old Pro Stock wheelman jumped at the opportunity to put on a show for the massive crowd on hand in Indianapolis, winning two rounds of the burnout contest en route to being crowned champion, and pocketing $5,000 from Denso Spark Plugs. “It was a ton of fun, and really felt great to win the deal,” said Kramer, who drives the American Ethanol Dodge Dart. “The fans really responded to the competition and I was happy to please them. It’s a good feeling to get a nice RPM, feel the motor and the car and just let ‘em roast.” Photograph by NHRA / National Dragster Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis | Clermont, Indiana | Sunday, September 3, 2017 September 2017 DragIllustrated.com | D r a g I l l u s t r a t e d | 23
