MATTIAS WULCAN
Past FIA Pro Mod cham-
pion Mattias Wulcan
and his team of Swedish,
diehard crew members
are proving to be just as
successful on the North
American continent as
they were in Europe.
Wulcan drove his “Black
Bird” ’69 Camaro to the
final round at the last
two races, complementing his win at Darling-
ton earlier this season. Wulcan was also the low
qualifier at Tulsa and the GALOT fall race.
“It’s amazing that we can go so steady and so
fast all the time,” Wulcan said. “The crew is doing
a great job right now. We come together more and
more, and we can go do great things together. It’s
a big team effort – we’re only four guys flying back
and forth (from Sweden). We’re feeling really
good right now.”
PRO NITROUS
LIZZY MUSI
With horsepower sup-
plied by her father Pat,
Lizzy Musi has had the
most consistently fast
Pro Nitrous car at any
given time. The driver
of the AAP/Lucas Oil
’15 Dodge Dart solid-
ified that reputation
when she left GALOT
Motorsports Park with
the elapsed-time and speed world records. Musi
posted an incredible 206.54-mph blast in the
PDRA Drag Wars semifinals, then ran a 3.656
at 206.42 to defeat defending world champion
Tommy Franklin in the final round.
“It was like rolling dice going into the final
because we put a bigger tune-up in this thing,
unlike anything we’ve done before,” Musi said. “It
all came together. The motor took it, the car loved
it, and this car definitely loves this track. Then in
the first round I had my first .000 reaction time
in competition, which was exciting for me as a
driver. Everything just came together.”
PRO BOOST
JEREMY RAY
Longtime PDRA Pro
Boost competitor Jere-
my Ray experienced the
most gratifying weekend
of his four-year time
in the class when he
earned his first win at
PDRA Drag Wars. Ray
also drove and tuned his
Roots-blown “Carolina
Kingpin” ’63 Corvette to
multiple career-best passes in the victorious per-
formance, but the ability to run with the GALOT
Motorsports entries tuned by Todd Tutterow and
Jeff Bohr was perhaps the performance mark that
pleased Ray the most.
“It’s awesome to finally get a win over here,”
Ray said. “I’ve been digging and trying to outrun
GALOT for the last few years. Those three cars
are tough. Todd Tutterow is a bad dude – he’s one
of the best. I finally out-qualified them in Indy,
then Ty (Tutterow) and I had to run in the finals.
Ty out-qualified me by two-thousandths here (at
GALOT), but I was able to outrun (John) Strick-
land. Beating him was almost better than the win
because those guys are tough – they’re the best.”
EXTREME PRO STOCK
CARY GOFORTH
HOT?
PRO EXTREME
Mountain-motor Pro
Stock veteran Cary Go-
forth added a second
PDRA world champi-
onship to his long list
of accolades when he
defeated Jeff Dobbins
in the Drag Wars final
round. It was Goforth’s
third consecutive win
and fourth final round on the season in his Dean’s
Casing Service/Dewayne Higgins Trucking ’14
Camaro. He previously won the PDRA champi-
onship in 2014, when he also won the IHRA Pro
Stock world championship.
“This is number eight for us,” Goforth said of
his multiple championships. “I’m sitting here
thinking, ‘What am I going to say about that?’ I
think for the first time, I’m going to have some
t-shirts made to celebrate this one. I’m really
proud of this. We worked hard for this one, raced
some tough competitors all year. If it weren’t for
Dad, Dewayne (Higgins) and our guys, I wouldn’t
be here right now.”
PRO EXTREME MOTORCYCLE
BRAD MCCOY
While Drag Wars
winner Brad Mc-
Coy isn’t in cham-
pionship contention
this late in the sea-
son, he seems to be
enjoying his role as
a spoiler for the two
contenders, Travis Davis and three-time cham-
pion Eric McKinney. McCoy did something in
the first round of Drag Wars that no one else has
been able to do since the season opener, and that
is beat Davis to the finish line. It may have been
the upset of the year, and it certainly affected the
Pro Extreme Motorcycle championship situation.
“Travis really needed that round win. He’s a
great racer. He even came over and helped me
put a new motor in our bike after we raced first
round. You can’t get better sportsmanship than
that. I felt I did him a favor – that final round
(over McKinney) was payback for him helping
me,” McCoy laughed.

setters, and who is on
