Seasoned outlaw Pro Modified wheelman Jose Gonzales brings up the rpms in his
turbocharged, Pro Line-powered “Eleanor” ‘67 Mustang during Pro Boost’s final
qualifying session at the PDRA Summer Nationals. With an all-star crew led by
Steve Petty, Eric Dillard and Brandon Stroud, Gonzales claimed the No. 1 qualifying
position with a 3.73, though Saturday eliminations were canceled due to impending
rainstorms. It was a pivotal point in Gonzales’ championship season, though, as
“Eleanor” emerged from a mid-season slump to finish strong at GALOT and Virginia.
