lead in qualifying. In the final, however, it was
Jesse Alexandra who had a perfect .000 reaction
time and won with an 8.62 on an 8.50 dial over
Jeff Anderson, who was 9.18 on a 9.19 dial-in.
In ATI Performance Products Nostalgia Super
Stock, Robert Killian ran to a 9.50 on his 9.50
index in his Dart to lead qualifying, but the final
round belonged to Corky Bumpus and his ‘Cuda
and T.D. Holland and his AMX. Bumpus bettered
Holland with a 10.78 on a 10.75 index to Holland’s
Bumpus, who turned on the red light in his Dart
before running a 12.50 on a 12.50 index.
The ever-exciting Gear Vendors True Street
boasted Bob Stuller, who was the overall winner
with an 8.03 average, while Yandro Ulloa was the
runner-up with an 8.48 average. Fred Dixon was
the 9-second winner, Jeff Smith was the 10-sec-
ond winner, Kyle Salminen was the 11-second
winner and David Flail was the 12-second winner.
John Greiner was the 13-second winner, Dorinda
Blaney was the 14-second winner, and Andrew
Beeman was the 15-second winner.
Adding even more excitement to the event was
the debut of the NMCA/Dodge/Mopar HEMI
Shootout, which partners the NMCA with Dodge
and its SRT and Mopar brands for a True-Street-
style drag racing experience at all six NMCA
events this year. Notable was the large turnout,
and Bill Lee Jr. was the overall winner with a
10.32 average. It was also the first competition
win for a Dodge Demon. Buzz Schaberg was the
runner-up with an 11.01 average, Dennis Latow
was the 11-second winner, Donald Scheid was
the 12-second winner, Neva Overstreet was the
13-second winner, and Dave Burnett was the
14-second winner.
Because of rain, two separate bracket races
that were to take place on Saturday and Sunday
combined for a single race on Sunday, with dou-
ble points on the line. In Bracket 1 (Super Pro),
Jon Siegel won with a 6.22 on a 6.24 dial in his
Malibu wagon over
