DRAGSTALGIA
Supercharged Outlaws welcomes any
vehicle that is powered by a Roots-style
supercharger with an index of 9.90 or
quicker.
Micha Vogt from Germany driving in Willys Wars brought out
his “old girl”, an all-steel, primered ’41 Willys Coupe. The car is
street legal in his hometown and its best pass on the track is a
9.30-second burst at 140 mph.
American Funny Car racer Troy Martin sold his famous “Chi-Town Hustler” ’79 Dodge Omni Funny Car to UK
resident Paul Harris earlier this year. Dragstalgia was the car’s first outing on British soil, with Martin driv-
ing the car once more. Unfortunately, the team faced engine gremlins from the first to the last attempt.
Daniele Degli Esposti traveled from Italy to Santa Pod to run his cool “Rat
Fink” Kawasaki equipped with a 400cc engine.
The Wild Bunch runs a unique format where the winner
is the racer who records the lowest average difference
between elapsed time and dial-in over all rounds com-
pleted. Basically, the most consistent car wins.

The popular Outlaw Anglia category is a
manufacturer-specific, heads-up class for
classic British Ford models, including An-
glias, Populars, Fordsons and Prefects.
Ireland’s Barnaby Levi raced in the Outlaw Anglia
class with his “Barn Stormer” Ford Anglia, which
has a 468 ci engine under the hood.
Also a fan favorite is the Willys Wars, which puts ‘33-’41 Willys coupes, pickups and
sedans under one umbrella. It’s a heads-up, match racing format without elimina-
tions, so it’s racing for bragging rights only.
There is the Slingshot Showdown for classic
front-engine dragsters.
The Nostalgia Super Stock class pays tribute to
the old-school American muscle cars from the
‘60s and ‘70s, including Ford Mustangs and Chev-
rolet Camaros and Chevelles.
