Dear Wes,
Wow, I can’t say enough incred-
ible things about this year’s
WSOPM! I’ve been to 5-6 big events
in four different states this year, but
I don’t recall ever having such a fun
time.
The fact that I even got to attend
was somewhat crazy. My wife and
I had already planned a short get-
away to Colorado last winter. When
the WSOPM date was announced,
I couldn’t believe it was the same
weekend! Then I felt bummed be-
cause I still wasn’t sure we’d be able
to fit it in. But when I won tickets on
the DI Live show, I knew we had to
go! My wife, Kellie, isn’t a big drag
racing fan, but seeing my excite-
ment, she gladly went along with it.
After a long drive across Kansas,
we arrived at Bandimere Speedway
just in time for the first shakedown
session Friday evening. We park,
and I’m running up to the main
ticket window for will call. I tell the
young woman I won tickets from
DI. “Are they under Wes?” she asks.
“I don’t know. Maybe,” I reply. She
informs me that if they are, I have
to go up the hill to another ticket
building to get them. We get back
in the van, park again. The other
ticket building is closed. Where do

we go? I’m about ready to call you,
but figure I’ll first ask the folks at
the racer entrance where I need to
go. Holy crap, the lady there says she
has them and to get my vehicle and
pull on up. These aren’t just general
admission tickets, they’re some sort
of VIP passes.
Kellie and I are giddy as we get to
enter the pits through the racer en-
trance! The lady warned me it was
full, and I might have trouble park-
ing – and she was right. B
