The Midwest and the South- east met in the finals, as Illinois’ Mike Roppo in his Butch Leal Castrol Nationwise Trans Am went up against Shane Westmo- reland in his Joe Lepone JOB Beretta. Both cars had been deadly all evening, however, in the end it was Westmoreland who pulled out the win with a .002 margin over Roppo. Identi- cal 4.84s had the fans on their feet with excitement. They were door handle to door handle from start to finish. In addition to the on-track ac- tion, several car owners traveled to the race to display their pris- tine show cars. These included McGrath Keen’s Mike Fonz “Motown Missile,” Gary French’s original Don Carlton Nationwise Rod Shop Dart and Mike Sipe’s customized Dodge Colt.
