hen I started writ-
ing for DI my general
focus was on a healthier
lifestyle and the choices
we make in achieving that goal. Well,
today I am going to get back to that and
discuss how you can make the proper
changes to be a healthier you.
First, I would ask how you start your
day. If it’s filled with a negative mind and
negative words, you may need to start
there. A negative mind will never give you
a positive life. Monday or Friday, have the
expectancy that it’s going to be a great day.
All throughout the day you will have to make a choice to give in to nega-
tivity or choose the higher road in your thoughts.
Second, I would ask how is your fitness level. No matter what shape
you are in, you can always strive to be better. This is where I am going to
lay it out there and challenge you. I hear time and time again from people
statements like this: “I don’t have time to exercise,” “I feel like people will
judge me at the gym,” “I can’t work out the way you do,” or “I’m just a big
person and can’t lose the weight.” And on and on the list goes.
Look at these statements. I don’t, I can’t, I feel, I’m just. All of these
are defeating to your wellbeing. People, please understand that the person
most likely to defeat you is you! Stop stating the negative and start declar-
ing favor over your life.
Two men that I know have struggled with their weight and decided to
get in better shape. One made a decision to commit to a healthier lifestyle
while the other said he would try. The committed man changed his eating
habits and made exercise a part of his weekly routine. The other went to
the gym but did not change his eating habits.
The result is the committed man had huge results while the other had
hardly any. The funny thing is that the one who did not commit to the
program has done nothing but complain and say that exercise does not
work for him. He put in very little effort then blamed it on everything else,
when in reality he needed to take responsibility for his lack of dedication.
Sound familiar? Gyms around the world are filled with people who oc-
casionally work out and then use that as an excuse to eat bad. Here’s the
real deal: No magic pill or infomercial gimmick is going to get you to your
goal. Here is how to achieve it: Make a commitment, take responsibility,
eat better and move your butt and, for sure, you will see results.
Eating properly is over 70% of the process of changing your body and
losing the unwanted fat. The balance between proper food and exercise
works every time! It’s the people who fail, not the plan. Saying “that didn’t
work for me” is just a copout. Also, remember this, you have to eat more
than once a day. Eating only once a day keeps your body in a starvation
mode and stores everything as fat! There are plenty of great examples
of eating healthy all over the internet. Breakfast is important as well as
proper nutrition throughout the day. Our society has become very lazy
and out of shape. Quick junk food is available everywhere, but remember:
what you put in is what you will get out.
Here is the point. You can make a change! Yes, it will require you to
make some adjustments, but I promise you it’s worth it. Don’t expect to
see huge changes overnight, because remember, you didn’t get out of
shape overnight. It took years to get to where you don’t want to be. Make
a lifestyle change to get back to a healthier, more fit you. People are tak-
ing pills for so many health issues when most can be done away with by
changing your lifestyle. The problem? People don’t want to. Laziness and
complacency continues to win and so does a shortened life.
Don’t be one of those people who say, “I should have.” Be one who
says, “I did and I am enjoying the fruits of my labor.” Now get to it, don’t
wait! Take control over your life and get fit! As always, the choice is yours
to make!
