THE
GREEKETTE
Clouds of smoke fill the air as Krista Baldwin stands on
the loud pedal in her nitromethane-injected McLeod
Racing A/Fuel dragster during the rain-delayed first Top
Alcohol Dragster qualifying session at the NHRA Four-
Wide Nationals last spring. Baldwin, the daughter of late
Top Fuel driver Bobby Baldwin and granddaughter of
Top Fuel legend Chris “The Greek” Karamesines, posted
a 5.342-second pass at 272 mph on this run, ultimately
qualifying No. 10. In addition to her own racing, Baldwin
is deeply entrenched in the sport, serving as the creative
director for McLeod and FTI Performance, as well as the
back-up girl for McLeod owner Paul Lee’s Funny Car.
