WORKING AGAINST tremendous
odds, drag racing is coming back. In
some parts of the country, it’s already
back. In the cases of major events
like the Throwdown in T-Town and
Wooostock, it came back in a big way.
Promoters, track operators and series
officials have worked tirelessly over
the last couple months to ensure their
racers would have a place to race this
season, sooner rather than later.
In some cases, fans were even able to
take in some racing action after a long
offseason prolonged by
the COVID-19 crisis.
From the open plains of Oklahoma
to the muggy Deep South, racing is
back. Over the course of the next
several pages, we’ve featured the racers
who came out on top at the first major
drag races of this post-pandemic
world. Their accomplishments would
be worthy of mention during any
other season, but now, they’re
especially worth celebrating.
