■ The incredible forces involved in a Top Fuel run push Leah Pruett ’ s Mopar dragster to the breaking point as it splits just ahead of the driver ’ s compartment and goes airborne at the Mopar Express Lane NHRA Midwest Nationals near St . Louis . Pruett was locked in a tight second-round race with Don Schumacher Racing teammate Tony Schumacher when the incident occured . After landing hard and coming to a stop , Pruett emerged from the mangled dragster almost immediately without serious injuries .
