ERIC GUSTAFSON

While there were many challenges and changes in 2020 , NMCA racers remained committed to competition . All through the year , they were purposeful and their cars were powerful , and the support they had from their teams , fans and sponsors was unswerving .

In the series ’ incredibly competitive Xtreme Pro Mod category , Californian Eric Gustafson came to every event ready to go rounds in his Coast Packing Company Camaro powered by a Noonan Race Engineering Hemi and ProCharger and tuned by PTP Racing . Backed by a talented team , Gustafson led qualifying with a 3.67 in Florida and a 3.66 in Indiana , qualified in the second spot with a 3.71 in Illinois , earned a runner-up finish with a 3.78 in Illinois and went
to the winner ’ s circle with a 3.68 in Florida , a 3.70 in Michigan and a 3.66 in Indiana . Along the way , he set records in the category with a 3.63 and 207.75 mph , and then walked away as the champion .
Vince Khoury , who arrived in Nitrous Pro Street in late 2019 , quickly learned the ins and outs of the compelling category . In his Firebird , the racer from Michigan set the pace in qualifying with a 4.50 in Florida , qualified in the second spot with a 4.56 in Atlanta , and in the second spot with a 4.43 in Indiana . He ran to runner-up finishes with a 4.61 in Atlanta and a 4.53 in Indiana , and won with a 4.56 in Florida . With that tremendous amount of work — and despite moving from a naturally aspirated 499ci engine to a nitrous-enhanced 632ci engine built by his family ’ s Khoury Racing Engines in the middle of the year — he took the championship .
