DALLAS GLENN
mean to you ?
Just racing Pro Stock is just incredible in itself at any level . But to do it with a car that I know if I go out there and everything falls right and I do my job , that I have just as good a chance at winning as any of the top cars , that ’ s just icing on the cake . That ’ s where you want to be . You can ’ t ask for anything more than that . It ’ s a dream come true .
Are you open to running more than four races ?
I never really stopped searching for more sponsorship . I feel like that ’ s a constant battle for everybody . If I can find more funding and somebody steps up , I will absolutely be all for going to more races and I know KB will as well .
The reason why I was wanting to kind of hold it at four NHRA races is because five would make me eligible for Rookie of the Year . As my wife , Sadie , likes to say , you just want to stick a toe in and see how it is and dabble a little to get used to it before you jump in .
You have a ton of experience as a sportsman racer . What about the Pro Stock car ? Do you have any seat time in one of those ?
We have a burnout car . It was actually the car that Greg [ Anderson ] won the last championship
with that burned up in the trailer on the way home from Pomona . They took that chassis and put a 572 in it with the same 5-speed Liberty and
we use that to break in tires . I have a substantial amount of burnouts and launches in that car , so as far as the feel for the clutch and shifting and tranny and switches and overall feel for these cars , I ’ m sure that will help me a bunch .
But other than that , I ’ ve driven a Top Sportsman car that I ’ ve been in the mid-7s with and some dragsters that I ’ ve been in the 6s with . I ’ ll be relying on that experience . I know I ’ ll have a few days in Orlando . I ’ m going to test there and I ’ m planning on running the Doorslammer race as well . That will be a good start before we head to Gainesville for the first official NHRA race .
You ’ re obviously going to continue as a crew member as well as driving . How will your role and responsibilities change ?
For those four races , I ’ m going to be the same crew guy but I ’ m doing it on my own car . I ’ m still going to drive the truck to the track , set up and do all my normal duties , and I will be doing the clutch on the car I ’ m driving . I guess I ’ ll be doing everything exactly the same , but I ’ ll climb in the car instead of go stand in front of it for the burnout . DI
