Southeast Nostalgia Pro Stock group pays tribute to the late Don Carlton By Gena Ellis

Rolling hills , a great facility and beautiful weather provided the backdrop for the 5th annual Don Carlton Memorial Nostalgia Pro Stock Race and the Hudson & Shuffletown Dragways Reunion Race at Mooresville Dragway , located 30 minutes north of Charlotte , North Carolina .

Held on Saturday , October 24 , the race saw 21 Nostalgia Pro Stock cars participate in the second-largest turnout of cars in the history of this race . Teams came from multiple states to pay tribute to the late Don Carlton , who tragically lost his life in a testing accident in July 1977 .
Carlton was an innovator , master driver and way ahead of his time . He was born and raised in Lenoir , North Carolina , and began racing in 1958 in a ’ 36 Ford flathead gasser . When NHRA initiated the Pro Stock class in 1970 , Carlton drove the Sox & Martin Barracuda and then their Pro Stock Duster . He worked at Chrysler and ended
