TWIN 3.49s BY PHARRIS LEAD THE CENTRIFUGAL REVOLUTION !
Daniel Pharris , the Midwestern superstar who made headlines in Drag Radial competition with a 3.57-second , 216.20 mph performance from his twin-turbocharged 2017 Mustang over two seasons ago , is again on top of the world . Pharris is now wheeling the GALOT Motorsports 1969 Camaro utilizing a Steve Petty-tuned Chrysler Hemi-powered previously driven by Kevin Rivenbark . The new Radial Versus The World team shocked the sport with a 3.497 at 213.72 mph during a test session at Jack Collins ’ Alabama International Dragway and followed that performance four days later with a 3.498 at 212.73 at Donald Long ’ s fourth annual Sweet 16 showdown at Ozzie Moya ’ s South Georgia Motorsports Park .
It wasn ’ t the first passenger car to run under 3.50 seconds in the eighth-mile . That honor will always be held by “ Mad Man ” Frankie Taylor , whose Pro Extreme ’ 02 Corvette clocked a 3.485 at Rockingham , NC , exactly seven years earlier . However , it was the first “ three forty ” since Terry Leggett ’ s ’ 71 Mach I Mustang hit a 3.49 at GALOT Motorsports Park just before Pro Extreme Eliminator collapsed

under its own weight at the end of 2016 . The fact another vehicle dipped into the almost-forgotten 3.4-second zone was impressive . That it was accomplished using 315mm radial rear tires was astounding . The most incredible aspect , however , was the ProCharger centrifugal supercharger feeding the ProLine Chrysler Hemi .
Only four weeks earlier , Jason Lee pushed Eric Gustafson ’ s Coast Packing-sponsored Chevy-powered ’ 69 Camaro to a phenomenal 3.502 at 211.46 during Long ’ s Lights Out 12 at SGMP . It , too , used a ProCharger centrifugal blower . It was quick enough to unseat Stevie “ Fast ” Jackson ’ s screw compressor-blown ’ 16 Camaro , ( 3.505 in September , 2020 , at Donwiddie , VA ), as the record-holding Radial doorslammer and the quickest active passenger car in drag racing .
Alas , although only five thousandths of a second different , a 3.502 is NOT a 3.497 to the drag racing media . One can consider Jason Lee ’ s pass “ the statement ” and Daniel Pharris ’ run as “ the exclamation point ”. The bottom line is simple . Centrifugal superchargers now officially own the sport .
It ’ s difficult to get unbiased opinions from those who are actively campaigning centrifugal blowers or from those who are vehemently campaigning against them . However , the facts are clear . Centrifugal superchargers , most notably those from the ProCharger corporation , now own the quickest elapsed times in the categories of Radial Vs . The World , NHRA Pro Modified , PDRA Pro Boost , NEPMA Pro Modified , Outlaw 275 and X275 . That ’ s unadulterated domination .
