KYLE KORETSKY IS LIVING HIS DREAM
IMPLY PUT , this has been a season where all of Kyle Koretsky ’ s dreams have come true .
The rising star in the Pro Stock ranks had one lifelong goal fully realized last year when he began his Pro Stock career , but “ Kid Chaos ” came into his own in 2021 .
After some struggles early in the year , Koretsky found his groove over the summer , racing to back-to-back finals in Topeka and Indy . The U . S . Nationals loss on a holeshot was particularly heartbreaking , but two races later Koretsky showed what he was made of , knocking off teammate Greg Anderson in the finals at Charlotte . It was a dream fulfilled and a realization of a massive moment for his family .
“ That was the biggest accomplishment I ’ ve had to date ,” Koretsky says . “ I think that would be probably my all-time biggest one , to get the first one as a Koretsky Wally , that ’ s in my dad ’ s house and I don ’ t think it will ever leave . It was amazing . To get that first win is tough . My dad ( Kenny ) did it for 20- plus years and never got one . Came close , but never sealed the deal . For me and KB Racing to seal the deal in our second year , the first full season , was huge . It ’ s the best man wins when it comes down to racing each other . It ’ ll go down in my history forever .”
Koretsky has been up to the task repeatedly throughout his young Pro Stock career , learning quickly under the tutelage of tuner Dave Connolly and the rest of the KB Racing team .
For the second-year driver , it ’ s simply a matter of wanting to make the most of an incredible opportunity . He raced Jr . Dragsters nearly 20 years ago , was competitive in Super Comp and Comp more than a decade ago , but wasn ’ t sure if he would ever make his Pro Stock dreams a reality .
Not only did that happen , Koretsky is doing it with Lucas Oil as a sponsor and with a KB Racing team loaded with talent and resources . He competes alongside the likes of Anderson and top rookie Dallas Glenn and it ’ s something Koretsky doesn ’ t take for granted .
“ It ’ s a dream . It ’ s something that not a lot of people will ever get the opportunity to do ,” Koretsky realizes . “ I ’ m blessed to have the opportunity to race with not only Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn , but Jason Line , three-time world champion , Dave Connolly , Rob Downing . These guys have all been doing it a long time and their passion for drag racing is huge . They love Pro Stock
November 2021 just as much as me . To race with that , it ’ s definitely a confidence booster .
“ When I was little , when my dad did his own deal and we were weekend warriors , we thought if we qualified 15th or 16th we won the race ,” Koretsky continues . “ Now , we know we can win the race . It ’ s pretty cool . I ’ m very fortunate my father gave me the best opportunity anyone could ask for in Pro Stock and in life in general . I ’ m just out here living the dream and trying to make my family proud .” – JOSH HACHAT DI
