With the Torrence family ’ s Capco Contractors on board , “ Tricky ” Rickie Smith races to a first-round win in Pro Nitrous at the Drag Illustrated ADRL Dragpalooza IV , posting a stout-at-the-time 3.99 at 183 MPH in his ‘ 63 Corvette . Smith has since solidified his spot as a Pro Modified icon , winning three NHRA Pro Mod world championships and a PDRA Pro Nitrous title in addition to his accomplishments before 2008 . The Torrences have also gone on to do pretty big things in the sport . Steve Torrence has claimed four NHRA Top Fuel world championships and a slew of event victories , while his father , Capco Contractors founder
Billy Torrence , also has a number of event wins in Top Fuel .
