Veteran sportsman racer Tom Martino suffers an uncommon nitrous backfire in his NGK

Spark Plugs-backed dragster in the semifinal round of Elite Top Dragster competition at the PDRA North vs . South Shootout . Martino , who won the 2018 PDRA Top Dragster world championship , made it into the 16-car field on the bump spot and raced through the first two rounds before this incident stopped him in the semis . The Youngstown , Ohio-based driver bounced back at the next race , as he won the Summer Shootout in Virginia to move up to the top 10 in points despite missing the first three races of the season .
