■ NHRA ’ s first national event on the east coast this season will come at Gainesville , Florida in March with the return of the Pro Mod class . FTI Performance from nearby Deland , Florida is sponsoring the popular 5-second door slammer cars at the NHRA Gatornationals , March 11-13 , 2022 . This will be the first of ten races for the Pro Mod series which is part of NHRA ’ s national tour .

The Gatornationals annually draws a large turnout of Pro Mod teams , in excess of 20 or more , attempting to qualify for the top 16 spots to compete in Sunday eliminations . Beyond its role as the first Pro Mod race of the season , the Gatornationals is a prestigious event hosting more than 50 years of drag racing history . Last year ’ s Pro Mod winner at the Gatornationals , Jose Gonzalez , went on to win the season long championship points chase .
