The group , collectively known at the “ Capco Boys ,” have been instrumental in Torrence ’ s current run of complete dominance . Led by Richard Hogan and Bobby Lagana , their dragster has performed at a consistently high level , including a 2021 campaign that saw Torrence win 11 of the 20 races , advance to 14 final rounds and post an eye-popping win-loss record of 60-9 .

That doesn ’ t come without a collective team effort that includes standout driving and performances on the starting line from Torrence , and an unbelievable job in the pits from a team that has stayed intact and razor sharp through the Texan ’ s string of four straight world titles .

“ I have the luxury of driving for the best team in the business ,” Torrence said late in the 2021 season . “ With Richard Hogan , Bobby Lagana and these Capco Boys , I always go up there knowing I ’ ve got a car that can win no matter who ’ s in the other lane and that ’ s the ultimate confidence-booster right there .”

It ’ s given Torrence a decided edge over a talented Top Fuel field , and with that confidence in hand , he ’ s done the rest , performing at a high level each of the past four season .

The team was especially dominant in 2021 , building a massive points lead during the regular

FIREBALL RACING , KB RACING , GALOT MOTORSPORTS ,

AND ELITE MOTORSPORTS season . Torrence rolled late in the Countdown to the Championship , winning the final two events of the year as his run shows no end in sight .

While he continues to credit a team that works so well together , Lagana says that togetherness has been crucial . It ’ s not a bunch of individuals , but everyone working as one and it ’ s created a cohesiveness that is unmatched in the sport .

“ Everybody is so important ,” Lagana says . “ We ’ ve been together for so long , it ’ s not a part of your daily thought process of , ‘ How do we rebuild or how do we get it back ?’ All of us here just always march forward .

“ You want everyone to buy into the idea of the whole team is one ,” Lagana continues . “ There ’ s not just an individual here that does a better job than anybody else . Each job is so important , and if everybody does everything perfectly , but one guy doesn ’ t , then nothing matters anymore .”
