One one of just the first few passes in his new nitrous-fed ‘ 69 Camaro , chassis builder Nick Montana gets out of shape and crashes into the retaining wall during final qualifying at Maryland International Raceway ’ s Door Wars . The Long Island , New York-based racer was making his season debut at the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association ’ s 30th anniversary season-opening race . Before the crash , the new car showed promise , as Montana posted a 3.904-second pass at 190.06 MPH in the second qualifying session , which would ’ ve given him the No . 11 spot in eliminations . Fortunately , Montana wasn ’ t injured in the incident . He expressed gratitude to his fellow NEOPMA members who ’ ve offered parts and pieces to help with the rebuild process .
