DRAG RACING ’ S BIGGEST STARS LIGHT UP THE NIGHT AT SUMMIT MOTORSPORTS PARK ’ S SINGLE-DAY CELEBRATION OF SPEED

Summit Motorsports Park ’ s Night Under Fire has developed a reputation as possibly the best single-day show in drag racing , with a slew of booked-in match racers competing in classes ranging from big-show nitro Funny Car and Top Alcohol Dragster to nostalgia Gasser and jet dragsters . Add in the Bader family ’ s signature showmanship and a noexpense-spared fireworks show , and you ’ ve got a recipe for fan satisfaction .
The stands were packed for this year ’ s 45th annual Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire on August 6 . Billed as “ the greatest show in drag racing ,” the event was headlined by Bob Motz and his jet semi-truck , as well as NHRA Funny Car drivers John Force , Ron Capps , Cruz Pedregon , Alexis DeJoria , Robert Hight , and Dale Creasy Jr . Additional highlights included a Top Fuel Motorcycle Shootout , Top Alcohol Dragsters , Pro Mods , Outlaw Dragsters , the North American Jet Car Championship , and the ScottRods AA / Gassers .
Along with the headlining attractions , Night Under Fire included the Edelbrock Super Series Elite presented by American Race Cars and Lucas Oil . The top 32 racers in Summit Motorsports Park ’ s Edelbrock Super Pro , Edelbrock Pro and Edelbrock Sportsman Delivered on Time by TFC Transportation categories , and the top 16 racers in the Wiseco / Cycle Tech Super Bike category as of August 1 , earned the opportunity to race for a share of a substantial $ 75,000 purse . Wins went to Carl Keil in Super Pro , Jon Lowery in Pro , Garreth Sheppeard in Super Bike , and Mitch Williams in Sportsman .
The Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster Shootout put the spotlight on the top eight Bear Motorsports presented by Wiseco Junior Dragster Advanced , Intermediate and Novice racers , and the guaranteed purse was a generous $ 5,760 . Braden Peters got past Cruz Schafter in Advanced , Vince Tiburzi turned on the win light against Kace Shupp in Intermediate and Brayden Baehr defeated sister Abigail Baehr in Novice . ➤ ➤ ➤
