GOSS , WHITE LEAD X275 BLOODBATH !
John Sears ’ X275 Eliminator remains one of the few categories in drag racing in which records are routinely shattered by a variety of competitive vehicle / engine combinations . The major autumn events , ( Donald Long ’ s No Mercy 13 at Cecil , GA , the 27th Haltech World Cup Finals at Budds Creek , MD , and the 24th annual World Street Nationals at Bithlo , FL ), made a mess of the X275 standings with staggering performances .
The “ numbers war ” was led by the absolutely amazing 4.108-second eighth-mile blast at South Georgia Motorsports Park by Wyoming ’ s Rob Goss in his centrifugally-supercharged 478 cubic inch Generation 3 Hemi-powered 2009 Challenger , erasing his previous 4.13 X275 record from eight months earlier .
The following week at Maryland International Raceway , Gary White astonished the fans at the World Cup Finals by wheeling his renowned Titan Motorsports turbocharged 194-inch 2JZ inline six-cylinder ’ 94 Toyota Supra to a new X275 quarter-mile record of 6.445 at 223.47 mph on his own 6.45 / 222 standard set in 2021 . White remains the X275 eighth-mile speed record-holder at 181.01 mph , ( with a 4.17 best ).
While the X275 class structure , individual weight breaks and induction options are incredibly complicated , the division ’ s diversity makes it intriguing and entertaining regardless of whether one understands the rules . Nearly every imaginable manufacturer , engine and induction is represented . It currently takes a 4.16 and over 175 mph to gain a spot on the DI X275 Top 8 . Three of the Top 8 speed listed

racers , White , Eric LaFerriere and Ryan Milliken , are utilizing turbocharged inline six-cylinder powerplants including Milliken ’ s 414-inch Cummins Diesel-motivated ’ 69 Chevy II !
Nationally , X275 Eliminator has fifty-five drivers who have clocked under 4.3 seconds and thirty-eight who ’ ve run over 170 mph .
HUFF BUMPS THE ELECTRIC DRAGSTER RECORD !
Washington ’ s Steve Huff , the man who clocked the first 200 mph speed in a four-wheeled electric dragster back in 2021 , hit 202.52 mph at Orlando Speed World to begin his 2022 season which secured the title of Fastest Electric-Powered ANYthing in drag racing , exceeding the 201.37 electric motorcycle record set by Larry “ Spiderman ” McBride in 2012 . With an all new High Tech Systems powerplant , ( 2,000 amps , 800 volts and 1,600,000 watts ), the Carrell , Huff and Barger “ Faster Than Cancer ” dragster headed to Sonoma ( CA ) Raceway just prior to the NHRA Denso Sonoma Nationals at which Huff was featured and , during the test session , clocked a new all-time electric vehicle record at 202.82 mph .
Huff ’ s best elapsed time of 7.47 seconds is still off the 7.23 electric dragster record set by Don Garlits in 2019 but Huff ’ s new combination is geared toward speed . The car uses only two motors to produce 2400 horsepower in a 2010-pound package . That puts the dragster at a much better power-to-weight ratio than the four different production automobiles available to the public , ( not concept cars ), now rated over 2,000 horsepower , ( the Lotus Evija , the Remac Nivera , the Aspark Owl and the Pininfarina Battista ), all of which use four motors and all of which weigh over 4,000
