Raceway in 2023 is the sanctioning body change from IHRA to the newly-formed World Drag Racing Alliance . Since the inception of the track , Immokalee has always been IHRA , but beginning in 2023 ( the 23rd season of the track ) Immokalee will fly the banner of WDRA .
“ The reason we decided on switching to WDRA is because we noticed that a lot of the tracks on the East Coast have made the switch , and we just don ’ t feel that there ’ s an advantage with staying

with IHRA anymore . I just think the WDRA will be a better organization for tracks in this region ,” says Hester .
While the winter races are the last big events of the season for Immokalee , the track continues operations with Friday night test and tune , only shutting down for several weeks nearing the New Year ’ s holiday . The new bracket points season begins a short time later in January . “ We basically make out our schedule 2-3 months ahead , rather than for the whole year , and we plan on scheduling 16-18 points races in 2023 .”
Immokalee typically begins their points season early in an effort to beat the summer heat , and also escape the consistent rain that the summer months bring .
“ We ’ ll do some pick-up truck shows in 2023 , and we ’ re also putting together a motorcycle show , but mainly we ’ ll stick to bracket racing ,” concludes Hester . DI
