new comes up all the time , but it ’ s been a process , and it ’ s incredibly rewarding to see the impact that you can have on other people . It ’ s also something that is very intimidating at the same time because you have a lot to carry . I see that as a big responsibility . Getting to that position , it ’ s been fun , and it ’ s really rewarding now because my sister [ Megan ] works for me , and me and my dad work together . People definitely still don ’ t always understand that that is actually my job . I ’ ve started letting that kind of stuff just roll off my shoulders now .
But getting to connect with people and hear stories when they come up at the track , and the fact that they remember more stuff about what we ’ ve done in the past than I even remember , because it ’ s just so hectic now , it ’ s really cool , and it ’ s super rewarding , and it ’ s very humbling .
I have to stop myself sometimes and really think of it , because you get caught up in the day-to-day grind of , “ This is really stressful . I ’ ve got seven things I need to do today . I don ’ t have time .” I always tell people , “ I don ’ t want you to think that I ’ m ungrateful for the opportunity . I am just trying to find the time to make it happen .”
It ’ s just balancing stuff out . That ’ s something that was hard for me last year . But this year , it ’ s
been much better , with my schedule with HOT ROD Garage and the race schedule and things like that . It ’ s back on track and smooth , and I feel like I can take more stuff on again .
On the racing side , you ’ re going to take part in a special drag-and-drive event at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance at Route 66 Raceway near Chicago . How excited are you about that opportunity to race in front of an audience like that ?
I ’ m super excited about it . That ’ s one of the events this year that I ’ m most nervous about because it ’ s an audience that some of them prob-
