Though it ’ s only in its third year , the Summit Racing Equipment PDRA ProStars race during Virginia Motorsports Park ’ s Night of Fire has become one of the destination events on the PDRA schedule . It brings together the most consistent and successful racers in several PDRA classes with a jam-packed lineup of additional entertainment to create VMP ’ s biggest single-day event . Racing came to an abrupt stop before the final rounds in Top Alcohol Dragster and the ProStars classes . A freak electrical incident occurred in the timing system while Larry Dixon Jr . and Scott Palmer were racing down the track in the Top

Fuel final round . The timing system was shot , and after frantic efforts to repair the system , series and track officials made the difficult decision to cancel the rest of the on-track activities . All finalists split the winner-take-all payouts .
