● WHEN JASON HARRIS clinched the 2023 world championship in WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive , he became the first driver in series history to win titles in the two headlining classes , Pro Boost and Pro Nitrous . Harris , the 2014 and 2018 Pro Nitrous world champion , won three races in six final-round appearances behind the wheel of the ProCharged “ Party Time ” ’ 69 Camaro tuned by Brandon Stroud .
“ I think I ’ ve made a statement that if you can win a championship in either class , you ’ re doing something ,” Harris said . “ This is my third championship [ in PDRA ]. It means a lot to me . The amount of competition in either class is stellar . Anybody can win in any position . Having a great crew , a great car , and great people behind you is how you win it .”
● FIVE SEASONS after winning his second Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous world championship , Tommy Franklin is a PDRA world champion yet again . Driving his Musi-powered “ Jungle Rat ” ’ 69 Camaro , Franklin won four races in six final-round appearances during the PDRA ’ s 10th anniversary eight-race season to secure his third world championship .
Throughout the season , Franklin was motivated by family . He was joined in the fight for world championships by daughters Amber , the 2022 Pro 632 world champion , and Ashley , a Pro Jr . Dragster standout , as well as newly crowned Super Street champion Blake Denton , who proposed to Amber at DragWars . Wife Judy was by his side the whole way too . It was Franklin ’ s late father , Roger “ Rodie ” Franklin , who gave him the extra drive to pull through in the tough moments .
“ I can ’ t say I didn ’ t try just as hard any other year , but I dedicate this win to my dad ,” Franklin said . “ He was my biggest fan . To be able to do it after losing him , that meant a lot to me . I had some extra drive in me to push it , and I felt like I probably drove the best I ’ ve driven in my career , honestly . And there ’ s a lot of better drivers out there . But I did my part when I needed to . I was happy , but I think I had some help with that .”
