dad , Daniel replies , “ I mean , that ’ s the dream , right ? So , I ’ ve told people that this is something that we talked about over dinner , right ? We never really thought we ’ d get to do it . But for this to happen , we ’ re living the dream . We ’ re super appreciative for SCAG Power Equipment , Summit , and Ford for letting us do this because they easily could have told us no . But everyone got on board , and I think it ’ s going to be good for the whole program .”

The change came a bit abruptly . There was no

“ retirement tour ” for Tim . No talks of stepping out of the 13,000-horsepower machine – at least not publicly . Even Daniel admits that it took him by surprise a bit , as well , and explains how “ Tim does stuff ” because there was no big deal made about handing over the reins .

“ I think we were driving somewhere ,” Daniel begins . “ He ’ s like , ‘ Hey , I ’ m just going to have you drive it next year .’ I was like , ‘ OK . But how are we going to do that ?’ And he ’ s like , ‘ I don ’ t know , we ’ ll figure it out .’”

“ He actually said that in 2022 . So , he was ready then , but logistically , it didn ’ t work out . We weren ’ t quite ready to make that move for

2023 . So , we just worked on it and talked about it and worked through it , and finally , he said once we got everybody on board , it kind of trickled in slowly ,” continues Daniel . “ It never really hit me until right before we left , we pulled the trucks out to fill them with water . Then , I walked back , and it said ‘ Dan Wilkerson ’ on the side , and I went back to his office , and I gave him a hug . I was like , ‘ Holy crap , dude . We ’ re gonna do this .’”

“ It was like a day before we left ,” Wilkerson continues . “ I don ’ t know why it took me so long . But once I saw my name on it , I was like , ‘ This is really happening .’” DI
