DIALED IN which features drag racing and a car show . “ We ’ ve been hosting that event for quite a few years , and it used to be a once-yearly attraction held in February , but we ’ re having them back in October this year ,” says Kennedy .
A brand-new attraction for Gainesville this year happened in February with the NMRA Spring Break Shootout . “ I ’ ve had a long-running history with Rollie Miller and Steve Wolcott that began during my time in Atlanta , and it was great being able to bring NMRA to Gainesville for the first time ,” says Kennedy .
The Division 2 Lucas Oil Series race is among the most heavily attended sportsman gatherings in the region , bringing in approximately 500 race cars to compete in early March . The following week , the historic NHRA Gatornationals rolled into Gainesville and celebrated its 55th
running . Bracket point racing returned later in March , along with Saturday Insanity , which is a non-points index series that Gainesville hosts . “ I give out gun metal Wally trophies to the winners of that series at the season-ending event ,” says Kennedy .
April brings a wide variety of attractions , including Friday Street Legal Madness , Grassroots Motorsports Challenge Car Building Competition , and also the K & N-sponsored Cars and Coffee , which closes out the month of April .
The Spring Box / No Box Bracket Bash is slated for May 4 , along with more bracket point races and other multi-class , nonpoint bracket racing opportunities .
June through September is filled with additional bracket events , and even roll racing and test-and-tune sessions are on the schedule . The Night of Fire event closes out October , with potentially more races being added if weather permits . “ We ’ ve got a nice schedule of events in 2024 , and we ’ re looking forward to having a great season here at Gainesville this year ,” concludes Kennedy .
