SCOTT LANG FINALLY GETS HIS CALL
Scott Lang watched the 2023 WSOPM with visions of one day getting the call to participate in the $ 100,000-to-win race as a driver . One month later , he made his PDRA Pro Boost debut driving a ProCharged Camaro formerly campaigned by good friend Randy Weatherford . He didn ’ t qualify at the season-opening PDRA East Coast Nationals , but later in the season , he picked up back-to-back wins at Darlington and GALOT . In both of his winner ’ s circle interviews , he shouted out DI founder and WSOPM promoter Wes Buck . He was ready for his call .
Sure enough , Lang was one of the drivers invited to take part in this year ’ s WSOPM . Not only did he participate , but he also qualified . Driving his ProCharged AML Motorsports ’ 18 Camaro owned by his stepson , NFL star wide receiver Keenan Allen , and tuned by Lee White , Lang posted a 3.655 at 208.49 to end up No . 25 on the final qualifying order .
“ I ’ m the guy that came from the stands ,” said Lang , who previously competed in Piedmont Dragway ’ s Big Dog Shootout series . “ I was watching this race last year . I have only been in that car for a year and I ’ m qualified here .”
Merely getting the opportunity to compete with the best in the world meant a lot to Lang , and his answer reflected that when he was asked how winning the $ 100,000 title would change his life .
“ My life has already changed . I ’ m here ,” said Lang , who bowed out in round one to defending winner Spencer Hyde . “ So that ’ s been a big change . I won a couple races in PDRA and then I got invited by Wes . This shit is great .”
