On Sunday , June 23rd , one of the greatest drivers in the history of drag racing suffered a violent Funny Car explosion and resulting 300-MPH crash at the NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park just outside Richmond . In the days and weeks that followed , the drag racing world waited for updates on Force ’ s conditions while offering prayers , well wishes , and words of support for the beloved Funny Car wheelman and team owner . Now , Force is making his third appearance on the cover of Drag Illustrated , with the cover story focusing on the timeline of events from his early 2024 success through his crash and recovery process .
