THE BOUNTY HUNTER RETURNS
Past NHRA Funny Car world champion J. R. Todd comes to a stop after doing a burnout in his DHL Toyota GR Supra, sporting a special Scott Kalitta tribute livery at the SCAG Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout. The Kalitta Flying Service / Bounty Hunter look was inspired by the car Kalitta drove to his first Funny Car victory at Houston in 1989. With the PRO Superstar Shootout coming before the 20-race NHRA Mission Foods Series season, it presented a unique opportunity to run a special throwback design. Plus, the late son of Kalitta Motorsports team owner Connie Kalitta lived in the Bradenton area, and his family still resides there. Along with Connie, Scott’ s wife and sons were on hand for the surprise unveiling of the tribute car at the track.
