PAGE 100 After winning four NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car world championships over the last several years – including last year – one might think Sean Bellemeur, tuner Steve Boggs, and team owner Tony Bartone would stick with what’ s already working quite well. But Boggs, always looking for a challenge, decided it’ s time to bring out a nitro-injected A / Fuel Funny Car, newly legal in the class as of two years ago. The team’ s debut with the car in preseason testing shook up the Top Alcohol community, as Bellemeur laid down beyond-record numbers leading up to the“ Baby Gators” regional race and NHRA Gatornationals. In this exclusive interview, Bellemeur and Bartone discuss their success in the class, the decision to add an A / Fuel car to Bartone’ s program, and the effect the A / Fuel combo will have on the previously blown-alcohol-only class.
