Small-tire standout Shelby Kendrick, better known as Shelby Lynn, takes a second to collect her thoughts after making a pass in her ProCharger-boosted, Hemi-powered‘ 73 Dodge Challenger at the King of the South small-tire invitational. With competitors limited to 28x10.5-inch non-W slicks, the race attracted top drivers and teams from all over the country. Sixty-four drivers started the race, and Kendrick was one of the last eight racers remaining in the quarterfinals. She held her own against eventual $ 75,000 winner Larry Larson, losing by only about a fender. Kendrick has also started to dabble in PDRA Pro Street combination utilizing bigger slicks and a bigger ProCharger unit.
