In June 2025, Performance Racing Industry( PRI) released a landmark Motorsports Economic Impact Study that confirms the racing industry’ s powerful contribution to the U. S. economy. According to the report, motorsports generate $ 69.21 billion in annual economic output nationwide. This figure represents the most comprehensive analysis of the industry’ s economic footprint to date and highlights |
every level of racing as a vital contributor.
From racetracks and promoters to parts manufacturers, retailers, and race teams, the study showcases how deeply motorsports are woven into the fabric of America. PRI President Michael Good describes the report as a milestone that highlights the extensive influence motorsports has as an economic force across local, state, and federal levels.
“ Using these results as a foundation, PRI will continue to seek ways to foster the motorsports industry, from racetracks to manufacturers, and from small businesses to major national employers, to ensure motorsports continues to touch

every part of the country and bring together people from all walks of life for competition and community,” Good says.
The report confirms that more than 318,000 jobs across the country are supported by the motorsports industry, contributing over $ 22.1 billion in wages and benefits. It also reveals that the industry generates $ 8.2 billion in annual tax revenue, including $ 5 billion in federal taxes and $ 3.2 billion at the state and local levels. These numbers go far beyond traditional tourism-driven estimates and instead provide a complete picture of how motorsports directly affect local communities, support small businesses, and drive year-round economic activity.
While motorsports have long held a cherished place in American culture, the economic value of the industry has not always been so clearly measured or understood. Karen Bailey-Chapman, SEMA’ s Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs, noted the importance of this report in helping reshape that narrative.
