A multi-team mad thrash ensues in the Tommy Franklin Motorsports pit area following a semifinal round of Pro Nitrous competition at the PDRA Northern Nationals that saw both Franklin’ s“ Jungle Rat 3.0”’ 69 Camaro and daughter Amber Denton’ s“ OG Jungle Rat”’ 69 Camaro sustain damage due to mechanical gremlins. Backfires launched the hood scoops off of both cars, cracking the windshield on Denton’ s car. With Franklin having wounded equipment on two previous runs, the team was out of spare engines. Fortunately, with plenty of other big-inch Musi engines around the pits, Franklin, Denton, and tuner Jeff Pierce got what they needed, along with a little extra manpower, from the teams of Buddy Perkinson and Marcus Butner. In the first final round for the father-daughter duo, Denton ran a 5.44 at 147.49 mph to beat Franklin’ s 5.468 at 149.01 by just. 006 seconds to earn her first career Pro Nitrous win.
