By September, the points bracket season is winding down, with the final pair of races slated for September 26-27. The Bracket Finals for this division will be hosted by Darana Motorsports Park in Benson, North Carolina. Afterwards, lots of racing remains at Coastal Plains, as October features another visit by The Classic Gear Jammers, along with many other fall events. The long-running Thanksgiving Classic is a staple event, and it will celebrate its 40th running on November 21-22. As an added bonus, the Carolina Class Racers Association will visit Coastal Plains on this same weekend for an action-packed event.
The Thanksgiving race usually closes out the regular calendar of events, although it’ s not uncommon to see great racing right on into December.“ Santa brought us some 70-degree weather last Christmas weekend, so we took advantage of it,” Humphrey says.
With the 4 / 10-mile quad-shaped oval stock car track located on the same property, there’ s always lots going on at this multi-purpose facility. DI
