Tuner Lee White bounces back from frightening accident to guide Lyle Barnett to record-setitng victory

Well into the early morning hours on Saturday, May 31, Lee White stood in the winner’ s circle at the Shakedown at M’ Town at U. S. 131 Motorsports Park after tuning Lyle Barnett to the Radial vs. the World victory and a new screw-blown doorslammer world record. Ribs still sore from a side-by-side accident that left White hospitalized for a week, his celebration was subdued, but this victory was meaningful in more ways than one. It was racetrack rehab, doing more for his recovery than bed rest or pain meds could accomplish. ¶ White’ s world flipped upside down – literally – on Thursday, April 30, when he rolled his side-byside. He wasn’ t rock-crawling or doing anything wild – he was just doing donuts in his yard. But somehow, he lost control of the machine and was ejected from the driver’ s seat. The vehicle landed on White’ s chest and pinned him down to the point where he couldn’ t breathe. Firefighters used airbags to lift the side-by-side off White. They stabilized him and gave him a breathing tube before he was LifeFlighted to a trauma center in nearby Spartanburg, South Carolina. ➤ ➤ ➤
