GET IN AND WIN
Racing down the same surface where he excelled on drag radials, Jason Collins( far lane) throws down a 5.672-second pass at 251.11 mph alongside Justin Bond to end Friday qualifying as the provisional No. 2 qualifier at the NHRA
Southern Nationals. South Georgia Motorsports Park’ s first-ever NHRA national event served as the ideal place for Collins to make his JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod presented by Elite Motorsports debut, as he previously competed at Valdosta in Pro 275 at Donald Long’ s Lights Out and No Mercy small-tire events. Driving Scott Tidwell’ s screw-blown‘ 69 Camaro, Collins made the most of his debut. He qualified No. 2 and defeated past winners Mason Wright, Sidnei Frigo, and Lyle Barnett on his way to the final round, where he beat Mike Thielen to earn his first career NHRA Pro Mod win in his debut.
