Tim McAmis
Tim McAmis, a true Pro Modified pioneer, won the first IHRA Pro Modified world championship in 1990, establishing himself as one of the class’ s earliest stars before shifting his focus from driving the cars to building them. Two years later, he opened Tim McAmis Race Cars in Hawk Point, Missouri.
Since then, TMRC has produced some of the most recognizable and successful doorslammers in the sport, with championship-winning and record-setting cars competing across Pro Mod, Pro Nitrous, Pro Extreme, Pro Stock, Top Sportsman, and other categories. McAmis has also made education part of the business, offering chassis kits, components, and detailed technical resources aimed at racers building and maintaining their own cars.
The operation extends well beyond chassis fabrication. McAmis developed an in-house composites division after struggling to consistently source high-quality pieces, eventually producing carbon fiber bodies and components used on cars built inside the McAmis shop and beyond.
McAmis has also become one of drag racing’ s most recognizable voices away from the fabrication table. Whether through his own videos or on podcast interviews, he has rarely softened his opinions about driving, building race cars, the business of drag racing, and politics. That willingness to say what he thinks – whether universally appreciated or not – has made him an influential voice as well as a builder. – NATE VAN WAGNEN

Russ and Kellan Farmer
Russ Farmer( left) has spent nearly four decades shaping sportsman drag racing through Race Tech Race Cars. After opening the business in 1986, Farmer built Race Tech into one of the sport’ s premier chassis manufacturers, at times producing more than 70 cars annually for bracket racers, Top Dragster competitors, and other sportsman standouts. His designs have long emphasized performance and consistency.
That approach earned the trust of racers like Anthony Bertozzi and Peter Biondo and extended into heads-up racing. Farmer built and tuned the’ 68 Camaro that helped Travis Harvey win a Piedmont Big Dog championship, set a nitrous doorslammer record, and later contend for an ADRL championship. Race Tech also earned an NHRA Best Engineered award for Phil Unruh’ s twinturbo C7 Corvette Pro Mod.
The next generation is already carrying that standard forward. Russ’ s son, Kellan Farmer, has grown from Race Tech shop foreman into an accomplished racer and increasingly important part of the family business. In 2019, Kellan won the PDRA Elite Top Dragster world championship in his first season competing at that level, proving Race Tech’ s ability to build cars that could excel in the increasingly quick fast-bracket ranks.
Today, Russ remains deeply involved in design and development while Kellan helps lead the operation forward. The result is a family business that continues to influence how some of the toughest sportsman racers in the country compete. – NATE VAN WAGNEN
racing, ultimately setting his sights on a class that would define his career and then some.
Knowing the direction he wanted to go, Scott began a commercial excavating business and put a plan together to buy a Pro Mod and a screw-blown motor. He eventually won Driver of the Year in 2003 and then a Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association championship in 2005.
Scott is also known for putting a beautiful racetrack facility on the map when he built, from the ground up, Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas. Construction commenced in 2017 and finished in early 2018 with Scott himself pulling the wires for electric, welding the metal buildings, and operating the machines. Through true love, sweat, and hard work, he built a now iconic racetrack that hosts marquee events every year.“ I’ m the sole owner, I don’ t have any partners. It’ s just me – and my family, of course,” Scott said.
In 2024, Scott made his biggest industry move yet, acquiring RJ Race Cars and Quarter-Max Racing Components. He has since narrowed his focus towards the advancement of Pro Mod chassis technology while preserving the reputation of one of drag racing’ s most respected manufacturers.
Scott’ s hard work and influence has only grown in 2026 as his Xtreme Raceway Park joined the NHRA Member Track Network and Quarter-Max jumped onboard as the title sponsor of the new Mid- West Drag Racing Series Pro Extreme exhibition class.
Whether he’ s driving cars, building them, or owning the track surface they race on, Scott’ s passion and love for the sport is shaping Pro Mod racing from quite literally every angle. – MADELYN ZARON
