WICKED WAGON
The Doomsday No Prep Shootout kicked off the first of three events at North Star Dragway on Saturday,
March 18th in Denton, Texas. A capacity crowd packed the stands and the action on the track kept
everyone on their t oes, especially in the True Street category. Realtor by day, racer by weekend, Lea
Ochs of Fairview, Texas showed no mercy to the stiff competition in True Street as she drove through
the field to meet Tyler Wilmoth in the final round. Ochs’ 1978 Ford Fairmont wagon is branded the
“Lead Sled” and sports at 440 cubic inch LSX engine which easily stood the test during the required
thirty mile cruise prior to competition. In the final, Ochs took the advantage at the hit and held on for
the win in a close race, clinching her first no prep event win as the starting line erupted in celebration. A
very emotional and memorable win for the Ochs Performance camp. Keep an eye on this wicked wagon,
we get the sense there may be more winners circle appearances for Lea in the near future.
