Fredy Scriba went into the World Finals with the points lead , needing to hold off four-time world champion Jim Halsey and three-time and reigning world champ Tommy Franklin to secure his first Pro Nitrous world championship . Halsey lost in the second round , then Franklin fell in the semis . Scriba won his semifinal match , making him the champion , then he used a 3.669 to beat first-time finalist Dane Wood ’ s 5.298 to get his second straight event win . Franklin qualified No . 1 and set low E . T . of the semis , but Wood in his Musi-powered Purvis Ford ’ 12 Mustang got him on a holeshot with a 3.725 .
Pro Boost had its quickest field in history – for the third time this season – with Kurt Steding ’ s 3.626 taking the bump spot . Johnny Camp ended up on the top of the field with his 3.563 in his Brandon Stroud-tuned hot rod . Jason Harris , also tuned by Stroud , qualified No . 2 and ran in the 3.50s in three of four rounds to claim his third consecutive event win . He also clinched his second consecutive Pro Boost world championship , adding to two Pro Nitrous titles . Jason Lee was Harris ’ final-round opponent , posting a 3.629 in Eric Gustafson ’ s screw-blown Coast Packing ’ 20 Camaro .
Having missed a race due to an injury , Pluchino ran out of runway to catch Chris Powers for the Extreme Pro Stock world championship , but he didn ’ t let that stop him from taking one last event win . He qualified third , beat Powers and fellow past world champion John Montecalvo on holeshots , then ran a 4.047 in the final to beat Matt Giangrande ’ s 4.075 . Rookie Randi Lyn Butner made history with her 3.997 in Q2 , finally breaking the 3-second eighthmile barrier for the class in her JHG / Elite ’ 20 Camaro . Powers , the 2021 world champ , clinched a second title with his firstround win .
World champ Amber Franklin Denton raced without the pressure of earning points at the World Finals . Still , she nearly had a max-points performance , qualifying No . 1 , setting the E . T . record with a barrierbreaking 4.086 on a firstround bye , and racing to a runner-up finish . She went red in the final . Her longtime best friend , Lexi Tanner , enjoyed a careerbest weekend in her Musipowered “ Thunder ” ’ 18 Camaro , as she qualified No . 2 , lowered her best E . T . from a 4.19 to a 4.112 , and won the final over Franklin with a 4.149 . Chris Holdorf made his return , qualifying No . 3 and losing to Tanner in the semis by . 005 .
It was a battle between Tennessee-based teammates in the Pro Street final , where Richard Reagan scored his first career win in the class when he beat five-time winner Scott Kincaid . Reagan left second but wheeled his screwblown ’ 90 Mustang to a 3.945 to chase down Kincaid ’ s 3.976 in his screwblown Clinch Mountain Transport ’ 69 Camaro . Rookie Brian Weddle brought “ the big bat ” to the World Finals , setting a new E . T . record with his 3.864 in his screw-blown JW Racing ’ 68 Camaro , also qualifying No . 1 in the process . Weddle backed it up through eliminations on his way to a semifinal exit due to a red light .
PRO EXTREME MOTORCYCLE
BRUNSON GROTHUS | CHRIS GARNER-JONES | MESHAL AL-SABER
Dominant is a fair way to describe Brunson Grothus ’ World Finals performance . Coming into the race second in points behind Chris Garner-Jones , he started racking up points in qualifying when he qualified No . 1 with a record 3.913 . He went on to back that up in the semifinals when he laid down a 3.935 to defeat Garner-Jones , deciding the world championship at the same time . With the title in hand , he got the final-round win thanks to a . 005 red light by Meshal Al-Saber , who still ran a 4.017 after firing off a 3.984 in the semis aboard his nitrous-fed Q80 Racing / McCoy Motorsports Hayabusa .
